someone’s trying to kill me is multi-media cinematic theatrical production with live performance and video of original and stock footage.  It is an exploration in where creativity comes from and how it is harnessed in a classic 1950’s American setting but with progressive contemporary points of view. The subtext aligns two different venues of creativity and illustrates how each of those venues is stifled by hyper capitalism. Exposing the light of inspiration in American storytelling in theater and film analogous to inspiration in innovation and productivity in American manufacturing, it offers the hypothesis that the lack of nurturing and support of motivated ideas in both areas leads to decay and stagnation of the American dream.

Spring 1952 -Dylan and Olivia Stratford, two step-sisters in their late twenties, live in the house they grew up in Rotterdam, NY. Abandoned by the death of Dylan’s mother, the volunteered absence of Olivia’s mother, and the untimely “accidental” death of their father, they have never married. Their isolation once calling for sympathy from others in town, has now maturated into suspicion. Walter, an admirer of Olivia’s, has suddenly disappeared and the girls have gotten careless.

Summer 2011, Walter, a young writer, flees Hollywood to get away from the void and return to his true passion, story telling. He stumbles upon an Upstate rental house in Rotterdam, NY and takes it for solitude seeking inspiration for his new script. In the old house he looks for a story to unfurl and stumbles upon a photo of two women, Dylan and Olivia Stratford. The storyteller and the story cross paths in the past, and parallel universes collide to recreate mysteries and to reveal truths.
